DAY 1 – MUSCAT
Arrival at Muscat International Airport. Our representative will be waiting for you. Transfer to the hotel.
DAY 2 – MUSCAT
Breakfast at the hotel and half-day city tour of Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. This is a picturesque country surrounded by natural and cultural landscapes. The tour includes a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque (it is important to follow the rules and respect the dress code). Our tour will take us through the diplomatic district and the Opera House. We will visit the fish market, the Bait Al Baranda Museum, and the Muttrah Souk. We will continue through the streets of old Muscat to see Al Alam Palace with its two Portuguese forts. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
DAY 3 – MUSCAT – NIZWA
Very early in the morning, we will depart from our hotel in Muscat to Nizwa, known as the interior capital, the cradle of Islam in the Sultanate, and a former capital. On the way, we will stop for photos in the beautiful village of Birkat Al Mouz and enjoy a short walk through its oasis and plantations.
The ancient capital features a fortress with an impressive round tower built in the 17th century. We will also visit the traditional souk, where locals trade traditional ornaments such as khanjars and hand-carved silver jewelry. Nizwa is also known for its Friday livestock auction, held within the market area.
After Nizwa, we will head to Wadi Tanuf to visit the ruins of old houses, then continue to Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The next stop will be the picturesque Al Hamra, one of the oldest preserved villages in Oman, where we will enjoy a beautiful viewpoint.
A few kilometers away is Jabrin Castle, one of the most picturesque forts in Oman, built in the 17th century as a residence for the Imam. This castle features beautiful ceiling paintings and finely crafted wood carvings.
At the end of the day, return to your hotel in Muscat.
DAY 4 – MUSCAT – WAHIBA SANDS
Breakfast at the hotel. Head into the dune landscape of the Sharqiyah region, where you will visit the old town of Ibra, where a special event takes place on Wednesday mornings: the Women’s Souk. It is the only market in Oman where both vendors and customers are women.
Men are “not allowed” in the scene and gather in a nearby café to socialize. The tour continues to Al Minzafah, one of the Sultan’s favorite villages. This part of Ibra is a great example of traditional architecture.
The houses are about 300 years old and are said to be among the oldest in the country. In the Wahiba Desert, you will have the opportunity to ride a camel (not included).
Enjoy a drive through the dunes, whose shapes change with the wind. Not only do the shapes change, but the colors of the dunes also shift throughout the day—from white in the morning to ochre, almost red, in the afternoon.
Then, enjoy a picnic at the evergreen Wadi Bani Khalid, where you will have the opportunity to swim or walk. 4×4 excursion with picnic included.
